The idea for this came from a day old pain au chocolat discovered the day after we returned from a short break in France.
Serves 1, as I only had one pain au chocolate but could be doubled etc depending on the size of your air fryer
1 pain au chocolat
1 egg
150ml whole milk
2 tbsp double cream or Greek yoghurt (optional)
1/2 tsp vanilla essence (optional)
1 tsp sugar
Slice the pain au chocolat into 1cm thick slices.
Lay in an air fryer liner.
Beat egg and cream/yoghurt/vanilla essence if using in a mug. Beat in enough milk to fill the mug.
Pour the egg mixture over the pain au chocolat and leave to soak in for 5 minutes or more if you can.
Sprinkle over the sugar and bake in the air fryer for 10-15 minutes at 180C until golden brown on top, the egg mixture is wobbly rather than runny.
